Bow Down to the GOAT: King Charles Bestows Royal Title on Rare Goat Breed

Lions may be kings of the jungle, but as far as animals go, goats are the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time), and this latest move by King Charles III solidifies their place at the top of the animal hierarchy.

Let’s face it, goats are having a moment. From their cheese to their yoga, goats are straight-up crushing it in 2024. Even King Charles has jumped on the great goat bandwagon. His Royal Highness recently endowed a royal title on a rare golden goat breed. Of course, they were GOLDEN goats. It’s a rich goat’s world.

By royal decree, the breed will henceforth be known as the Royal Golden Guernsey Goat. I’ve always wanted to use “henceforth” in a sentence, and now I have. So, it looks like you’re not the only fancy one here, goat!

Some barnyard blabbermouths have reported this royal upgrade has gone straight to the Golden Guernsey’s horned head. When asked for comment on his new knighted status, the goat of the hour responded with that electric enthusiasm the British elite are so known for.

“Oh yes, I’m simply bleating with excitement. Now will one of you peasants please pass the royal grass? I’m famished.”

During the tasteful outdoor ceremony, King Charles, Camilla, and a lot of men in wacky-shaped hats mingled amongst the hooved elite. The King petted the goat-of-the-hour and praised the coloring of its light blond coat. Mutual respect radiating from one pale royal to another. You love to see it!

Guernsey Goat-Heads are keeping their hooves crossed that this regal rebranding will raise awareness for the breed worldwide. These friendly and docile animals are currently considered “at risk” on the Rare Breeds Watchlist, which I think is like the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, but for goats.

So what’s next for these milk-making monarchs? The livestock of the rich and famous will undoubtedly enjoy the wealth and prestige that comes with the title, but palace life is not without its drawbacks.
